Some people are snoozing their way into the day and I am certainly not one of them. Whatever the alarm sound, song or tune, the level of annoyance reaches my maximum capacity in an instant.

- Damn, manic Monday!

I mumbled at the alarm's irritating notice as I lifted myself, just enough to let my head emerge from the pillow's soft brace and rest my back on it.

Most people would say I have the patience of a saint. Well, I don't know about that, but I surely have a hell of a practice.

In between an unintentional snooze, the traffic jam and being called at the principal's office the minute I stepped on school grounds, my patience had already been compromised.

I listened while sipping my freshly made coffee and by the time everyone had their turn, half of it was gone and I was coping.

Fifty minutes later:

- Kids, note down your homework for our next lesson. Your teacher needs a moment to himself. Class dismissed.

I said taking the last sip. Patience restored?

Not so much — Just functional.
